RIDER SAFETY RULES

1. State Park Safety Guidelines and Trail Etiquette apply – see Katy Trail State Park brochure

2. Riders must wear yellow event T shirt at all times. Rider Number (on the back of the T shirt) must be visible at all times.

3. Water will be available at each Manned Trailhead. Riders are responsible for their own water and nourishments (including lunch, if applicable) on the trail. Adequate water is essential. 250 calories per hour are recommended for the ride.

4. Riders must check in at each Manned Trailhead. This can be done on the roll by calling out your Rider Number and receiving a repeat of the number by the Trailhead Captain.

5. The riding portion of the Bik-a-thon will end at 4:00 PM. Trailhead Captains will terminate the ride when it is not reasonable that the Rider will reach the next Manned Trailhead by 4:00 PM. If a Rider continues, the Bike-a-thon will not provide transport back to DeSable.

6. Bike-a-thon Patrol Rider in red event T shirts will ride the trail continuously. They will be able to offer basic emergency service. The emergency phone number is 636-734-7238. As a back up, the base event phone number is 636-346-4547. Cell phones may not work on all parts of the trail.
